We're hoping to build a section here, with items of historical interest - please note that some of the items will be very large files and may take a while to download. If you have any items that you would like to see included, please contact the Clerk.

Wth thanks to Nicki for the photo of the 1905 map - surprisingly few buildings in the village then!

The first item below is a scanned version of 'One Small Corner - the story of a fen edge chapel and its background', written by Donald S Taylor to celebrate the anniversary of Little Hale Chapel 1837 - 1987. The copy for scanning was kindly loaned by Alf Wilkinson, local historian. See below, 'One Small Corner', in two parts.

Over a hundred years older, the extract from Rev Edward Trollope's 'Sleaford and the Wapentakes of Flaxwell and Aswardhurn in the County of Lincoln' (1872) highlights the historic agricultural nature of the Parish and the local landowners at the time, Marquis of Bristol (who also owned large tracts of land in Sleaford) and Col Packe. The copy for scanning was kindly loaned by Mr & Mrs Jay of Sleaford.
