Broadband Update January 2021 - Zoom meeting with Quickline

After deliberation Quickline Communications were chosen to provide the new high speed broadband service for the village.

They have proceeded to ring fence the gigabit vouchers for the properties who have expressed a wish to be involved with the scheme, these vouchers are a government grant to help with the installation and the infrastructure of the project.

Initially Quickline had indicated that they would favour putting in a fibre to the premises (FTTP) system, but issues have arisen resulting in a mainly fixed wireless access scheme being favoured. This will be 5G system which will be capable of giving internet speeds of up to 900 megabytes if required. Some properties which may have problems receiving the 5G signal due to structures blocking it will get FTTP to provide the service.

The price of the service is £29.99/month for 30 megabytes/sec £39.99/month for 100 megabytes/sec

Quickline would like to invite you all to a zoom meeting on 12 January 2021 at 7pm to inform and take questions on the project. Please can you send a response to hayley@quickline.co.uk for an invitation to join the zoom meeting if you wish to take part. Providing your email address will enable Quickline to send the link to join the meeting.

The current broadband service in Little Hale has been erratic over the past few months as I and several other users have experienced. To improve the situation high speed broadband needs to be brought to the village and with the current reliance on the internet likely to continue and increase, it needs to be sooner rather than later.

The more premises that sign up for the service the better. It will bring the scheme higher up the list for installation because it would make it more financially viable. At present the company has bid for several regional “broadband provider networks” and won the contracts so they have a heavy work load.

Hopefully everyone will have the ability to participate in the zoom meeting. If you have problems with this please contact the Parish Council for some assistance.

Your interest and participation in the scheme is important to ensure that we can achieve a better service.
